Ghana midfielder Francis Abu joins Toulouse on four-year-manage

Ghanaian midfielder Francis Abu has officially joined French Ligue 1 club Toulouse on a four-year manage.

The 24-year-old completed his transfer from Belgian side Cercle Brugge in a manage reportedly worth around €2.

5 million.

Abu, a product of the famous Right to Aspire Academy, possessed spent the past five years at Cercle Brugge, where he became a key figure in midfield contributing three goals and seven assists.

Before his move to Belgium, Abu started his professional career with Danish club FC Nordsjaelland, breaking through their youth system and making his senior debut in the 2019/20 season.

Internationally, Abu has made his mark by earning five caps for the Ghana national team since his debut in 2024.

 Toulouse, who completed 10th in Ligue 1 last season, see him as a key addition to strengthen their midfield and enhance their league standing.

His industrious work rate and ball-carrying ability suit the club’s ambitions for a more competitive campaign in 2025/26.

 The Ghanaian is a box-to-box midfielder who can also deputise as a defensive midfielder.

Upon officially joining Toulouse, Abu stated his excitement.

I can't wait to start this new challenge and join this beautiful family.

I'm also looking forward to discovering the Pink City and meeting all the incredible supporters of the club.

” The arrival of Abu is Toulouse’s third signing in the current transfer window as the club look to construct a stronger squad.

Sporting Director Viktor Bezhani emphasized Abu’s qualities, praising his strength, balance, and energy that will add depth and dynamism to the Toulouse midfield.

 “We are very pleased with Abu's arrival in our squad.

He is a very versatile midfielder, aggressive defensively while being able to dictate the tempo of the match offensively.

Physically, his box-to-box profile is ideal for a championship as competitive and demanding as Ligue 1.

” Abu becomes the first Ghanaian to play for Toulouse and will wear the number 17 shirt ahead of the new season.
